PLANK JACKS⎮ Plyo Plank Jumping Jack Exercise Variation Tutorial ⎮ PLANKMAS DAY 5
PLANKMAS DAY 5
On my YouTube, PLANKMAS means I’m sharing a video with a new plank variation every single day throughout the holiday month. I want you to find inspiration and get creative with your planks!
Today’s video features an advanced plank variation: plank jacks! The plyo plank jack exercise is a plyometric movement involving jumping which makes it very challenging (and a lot of fun!) and more appropriate for advanced “plankers”. Due to the nature of the exercise, this one can only be done on the toes, but if you want to do the jumping jack plank for beginners, you can place your hands higher to reduce the difficulty of the exercise.
You can always give it a try if it doesn’t feel good just return to a regular elbow plank or another plank variation that feels better. If you feel discomfort when jumping it could also be due to a weak deep core and you can consider adding some deep core exercises into your routine. I have previously written blogs and made videos with deep core exercises suitable for beginners and intermediate.
But back to the planks! If you want to try some great plank variations you’ve come to the right place! So often we just keep doing the same, boring core exercises but in honor of PLANKMAS, I’m showing you 24 plank variations, one for every day of the holiday month. You can find the full PLANKMAS 2019 playlist here.
The main Plankmas Challenge is on my Instagram and I hope you’ll go check it out. It’s going to be a lot of fun!
Over the next 19 days, I’ll keep giving you daily uploads of some of my favorite plank variations and side plank variations so you can mix it up and have fun with the challenge!
