What I Eat In A Day | Healthy No Spend Month 2019

This video was filmed on Day 1 of my Healthy No Spend Month.

In the video, I share what I eat in a day, how I prep all my meals, what supplements I take, my daily macros and total calories. You also get to tag along on my entire day as a personal trainer in Dubai!

On this day I had 2000 calories of healthy food & lots of water + 2 cups of coffee and a Coca Cola Zero which I don’t track. I just make sure to stay below 4 cups of coffee per day, and usually, I drink 2-3 cups.

Throughout this whole day, I had 2006 calories, 163 grams of protein, 206 grams of carbohydrates, and 51 grams of fat. I spent a total of 5 dirhams out of my 300 dirham budget, which I think is really good. Even though it’s the first day and I had lots of food at home, it’s still a lot less than I would have normally spent in the long workday.

Not the best timing for a healthy no spend month…

This first day went well and was pretty easy as I had access to a fully equipped kitchen. But then everything got pretty complicated. The first 1,5 weeks of my No Spend Month has been challenging, to say the least!

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know what I’m referring to. If you don’t, you should, but I’ll try to explain briefly what’s been going on, so everyone knows… After moving into my new apartment in June we noticed a foul smell coming from the A/C in the bedroom. After weeks of having the A/C unit cleaned and a fan in the en-suite bathroom changed, we couldn’t get rid of the smell. So, ultimately, I had to move out as a team of workers came in a fully replaced the A/C duct in the bedroom and bathroom. They said it would take 2 days. Now, it’s been a week.

I was offered another apartment to move into while the work was going on. Unfortunately, the apartment had nothing in the kitchen except for white goods and 3 coffee mugs. And no TV or internet. So I had to bring everything that I needed with me. I brought pillows, sheets, a blanket, towels, shower essentials, etc. 2 full suitcases worth of stuff. I guess I could have also brought everything I needed to be able to cook there, but as it was only supposed to last 2 days, I thought it would be easier to just prep the food at home in my kitchen and then bring it to the new place.
But as the work has been dragging on, I found myself in an empty kitchen and couldn’t cook food. They kept telling me they just needed one more day, so I didn’t want the hassle of moving everything for only 24 hours.

As I said, the apartment also didn’t have internet (which I obviously need to upload YouTube videos, blogs and stay in touch with my online clients… And to watch Netflix before bed lol)

As if eating healthy without a kitchen and getting all my work done without internet wasn’t challenging enough, I also had to stick to a budget of max 300 AED per week! I’ll give you a full update on how it all affected my spending when I give you a midway healthy no spend month update next week, but it’s safe to say those factors added to the challenge of staying within my budget! (and my stress levels!)
